Rodman debuts, US women tie 0-0 with Czech Republic

Washington, Feb. 18 (BNA): Trinity Rodman made her debut for the US women’s national team in a goalless draw with the Czech Republic on Thursday night in the Shepelevs Cup.

With some of the national team’s most iconic stars – Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Kristen Price and Tobin Heath – left off the roster at the tournament, coach Vlatko Andonovsky fulfilled his pledge to assess young prospects.

The average age of the starting lineup was 25.5, the youngest since April 2018. Five players have made less than 15 appearances for the team. Goalkeeper Casey Murphy was only playing in her third game, according to the Associated Press.

Rodman, the 19-year-old daughter of former NBA star Dennis Rodman, entered as a second-half substitute. She recently signed a four-year contract with the Washington Spirit worth $1.1 million, making her the highest-paid player in the National Women’s Soccer League.
