RHF Secretary-General, Syrian Health Minister discuss needs of quake-affected Syrian citizens

Damascus, Feb. 24 (BNA): The Syrian Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash, praised the humanitarian stances of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa towards the Syrian people.


He praised the initiative of the Kingdom’s leadership, government and people to support those affected by the earthquake that struck his country, stressing the depth of the Syrian-Bahraini relations.


This came in statements made by the minister during his meeting here with the Secretary-General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed, on the occasion of the visit of a Bahraini delegation to deliver a shipment of Bahraini relief aid to those affected by the recent earthquake. Syria.


During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the medical and relief field to serve those affected by the earthquake and coordination to deliver it to those who deserve it.


Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed indicated that based on the directives of His Majesty the King and the support of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Al-Haramain Foundation and the National Committee for Supporting Earthquake Victims. In Syria and Turkey, under the leadership of His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, it seeks to provide all kinds of assistance to mitigate the effects of the earthquake that struck Syria.


He affirmed that Bahrain will continue to provide assistance to the Syrian people, based on the fraternal relations between the two countries, the teachings of the Islamic religion and the authentic Arab traditions, to help the brothers and the afflicted in various humanitarian circumstances.

He stressed that coordination is currently underway with United Nations agencies to implement humanitarian projects for our brothers in Syria, as well as with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to ensure that aid reaches those affected by the earthquake.


The two sides discussed sending a group of Bahraini doctors to join their Syrian counterparts in treating the injured as a result of the earthquake. They will also collect first-hand information about basic needs in order to provide them.


The meeting was mainly attended by the Minister of Health and Bahrain’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Syria, Waheed Mubarak Sayyar.
