Manama, Jan. 15 (BNA): The Auditor General of the National Audit Office, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, presented the 19th annual report of the National Audit Office 2021/2022 to Speaker of Parliament Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam and Speaker of the Shura Council Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh. .
Sheikh Ahmed affirmed that the support provided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the National Office for Financial Audit and the complete independence granted by law to the agency enabled it to perform its tasks efficiently.
He also praised the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and his directives to the authorities covered by the agency’s audit mandate to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations and observations contained in the agency. reports.
Entities subject to the control of the Bureau include ministries, directorates, governorates, municipalities, and public institutions that form the administrative structure of the state and its affiliated bodies, the Shura Council, the House of Representatives, municipal councils, and companies in which: The state owns more than 50% of its capital, guarantees them a minimum profit, or provides them with assistance Finance and any other entity that His Majesty the King authorizes the National Office of Financial Supervision to monitor, in accordance with Article 4 of the NAO Law.
The Auditor General discussed with the Speakers of Parliament ways to enhance cooperation in auditing and consolidate the principles of integrity, honesty and professionalism to contribute to achieving the goals of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Sheikh Ahmed stressed that the audit work carried out by the agency included various economic, social, service, health, environmental and other sectors, and adopted a comprehensive audit approach by carrying out horizontal audit tasks.
He pointed out that during the past professional year, 96 audit assignments were completed, 140 reports were issued, in addition to 98 follow-up reports to ensure that the audited entities implemented the recommendations of previous years, and about 776 recommendations were issued.
The Auditor General said that during the year 2021/2022, the office followed up on implementing its recommendations in previous audit reports, which showed that the entities subject to its audit implemented or started implementing 79% of its recommendations.
He added that the second follow-up work of the National Audit Office, which was completed during the current year, showed that the audited entities implemented or started to implement 92% of the total recommendations.
He stressed that the office pays great attention to providing continuous professional training and qualification courses for its employees and informing them of the latest relevant developments to enhance their technical and professional skills during the year 2022.
The office held and participated in about 63 internal and external training courses, seminars and workshops in cooperation with specialized local, regional and international organizations, institutions and agencies, from which more than 851 participants benefited.
