RB Leipzig are in talks with Chelsea over a return of Germany forward Timo Werner to the Bundesliga club

Berlin, Aug. 2 (BNA): RB Leipzig has held talks with Chelsea regarding the return of German striker Timo Werner to the Bundesliga club, news reports said on Tuesday.

Sky TV said talks between the two clubs were “at full speed” and daily Leipziger Volkszeitung reported that club president Oliver Mintzlaff had been in touch with Werner for some time.

According to reports, RB Leipzig are considering whether Cerner will return on loan or in a full transfer deal as they will have to cross 30 million euros ($30.7 million) for the first time in the club’s history, according to the German news agency (dpa).

Juventus and Newcastle United are also said to be following the 26-year-old.

Werner recently suggested he might want to leave Chelsea after two years to get more playing time ahead of the World Cup later this year.

According to Sky, he is not a regular fixture under fellow German coach Thomas Tuchel who is reluctant to let him go.

Werner came to RB Leipzig in 2016 from FC Stuttgart and scored 93 goals for them in 158 matches. He left for Chelsea in 2020 for around 53 million euros.
