Public Security Chief chairs National Disaster Management Committee meeting

Manama, October 6 (BNA) Chief of Public Security Lieutenant-General Tariq Al-Hassan chaired today a virtual meeting of the National Committee for Disaster Management. Representatives of the relevant ministries attended. The Chief of Public Security welcomed the participants, praising the national efforts and initiatives to combat COVID-19, under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

He highlighted the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, praising the roles of medical teams in protecting public health and safety. He also praised the great efforts made by the Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, for a safe return to school by adopting preventive measures against the virus. He wished success to students, teachers and administrative teams.

The Director of Public Security congratulated all teachers on Teacher’s Day, praising their role in developing education and continuing the educational process despite the outbreak of the epidemic, to contribute to raising a generation capable of serving the country.

During the meeting, the Director General of Schools Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Mubarak Jumaa, briefed the committee on the procedures followed in personal education, including social distancing. In addition, he provided statistics on the success of the steps taken.

The meeting reviewed the development of the national plan for preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological emergencies. He also discussed the comprehensive guideline for the technical and media conditions of shelters.

The meeting discussed the steps for organizing the second national exercise to combat oil spills to assess preparedness and national contingency plans. The attendees also reviewed participation in a regional exercise in the United Arab Emirates, under the supervision of the International Energy Agency, with the participation of 170 countries and organizations.

At the end of the meeting, the Chief of Public Security thanked the attendees and wished them all success.
