Due to the continued success of our operations in the Middle East, we are looking for a Resident Engineer for our operations in Abu Dhabi.
The Resident Engineer will lead the development of the strategy, design and implementation of an enhanced SCADA control environment. The position of Resident Engineer will be responsible for the following:
• In close collaboration with the client designs, documents and manages the implementation of core SCADA control systems and components for wastewater utility networks and recycled water systems. Provide appropriate and timely technical advice on matters relating to SCADA systems and control.
• Act as the main problem solver in integrating industry standards and modern technology into SCADA design.
• Provides review/feedback on electrical engineering control system drawings such as site site hardware layout drawings, SCADA control room layout drawings, control diagrams, wired/wireless protocol designs, logic and control diagrams, and control system equipment.
• Serves as the client’s representative in design meetings with consultants and contractors and proposes solutions and recommendations in developing a standard design philosophy. Coordinates with consultants in preparing method statements related to SCADA work.
• Develop, create and upgrade SCADA design and implementation standards, with periodic reviews to ensure the client remains up to date with evolving SCADA design methods.
• Review control systems engineering, material submissions, and design drawings for the entire SCADA system including site locations and central control room.
• Reviews and validates PLC/SCADA software programs, logic, operation and functionality.
• Plans and proposes strategic recommendations and improvements to the SCADA system.
qualifications:
• 4 years engineering degree (electrical, electronic or similar) or equivalent. Professional engineer degree preferred.
• Over 10 years of experience designing, implementing and/or managing SCADA control systems and components in the 24/7 continuous drainage, wastewater or water utility industry.
• Hands-on experience designing SCADA systems and demonstrable work experience in at least 4 major SCADA projects with a minimum of 2 site-wide SCADA implementation projects.
• Demonstrable knowledge of structured programming and SCADA communication technologies and protocols. Knowledge and application of all standards, rules and regulations relating to devices; Working knowledge of DCS, PLC, SCADA/HMI control system software, hardware and architecture. Wonderware experience preferred.
• Knowledge of profibus, Modbus, OPC & Industrial Ethernet networks is mandatory. Expert knowledge of database and reporting tools is mandatory. Knowledge of Cisco fiber optics and firewalls/routers/switches combinations at the automation network layer is mandatory. SIEMENS PLC/SCADA and Honeywell PLC/Experion DCS experience preferred.
• Develop interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with multicultural teams.
• Ability to work effectively and diligently as an individual and team member to resolve complex faults in critical equipment.
• Ability to prepare and submit technical and non-technical documents.
• Demonstrated ability to perform a key technical leadership role, good written and oral communication skills, and thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required. In addition, he should be familiar with the current technology and how it can be used effectively in the project.
