Preparations for 4th Global Reciter competition discussed

Manama, October 2 (BNA) The committee supervising the Bahrain International Competition for the Recitation of the Noble Qur’an “The Global Reciter” held a coordination meeting in which it discussed preparations for the launch of the fourth edition of the competition.

The new edition follows the resounding success of the previous editions, which featured nearly 10,000 contestants and 65 jury members from all over the world.

The International Reciter Competition has put Bahrain on the world map to encourage young people to read and recite the Holy Quran.

Headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Judge Issa Sami Al-Mannai, the coordination meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Shomali, Chief Media Officer. The e-Government Authority, Muhammad Ali Al-Qaed, Assistant Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Al-Qattan, Director of Holy Qur’an Affairs, Abdullah Al-Omari, Head of the Holy Qur’an Competitions, and Dr. Specialist competitions and activities of the Holy Quran Noura Ibrahim.

The committee reviewed the preparations of the Holy Qur’an Affairs Department to launch the competition and the competition regulations, and agreed on the criteria for the event, its schedule and the number of contestants in each stage, in addition to the members of the jury and the technical and organizational staff. Commissions and their rewards.

The committee was also informed of the sponsors of the fourth edition, including the Ministry of Information Affairs, the Information and e-Government Authority, the Kuwait Finance House, the Saudi Telecom Company, Al Salam Bank, Diyar Al Muharraq, Ithmaar Bank, Al-Watan newspaper, Al-Ayyam newspaper.

The committee also reviewed the system designed by the Information and e-Government Authority for the Holy Quran competitions and the latest developments regarding the design of the competition website.

He also agreed to the participation of the contestants in additional categories, which are “Al Qari Psalmist” for readers, and “The Young Qari” for young readers, in order to ensure equal opportunities.

The fourth edition is expected to begin in early 2020.
