Manama, Jan. 25 (BNA): The Philippine Embassy in Manama will hold a unique “Festival of the Philippines” on January 26 and 28 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Bahrain this year. Anne Galando said on Lewis.
According to CDA Louis, the event is happening over three days, starting with its official launch on January 26th at 5 p.m.
“The festival is the first activity we are organizing on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Bahrain this year,” Lewis said.
“Although diplomatic relations were established between the Philippines and Bahrain 45 years ago, we are aware that there were already relations between the Filipinos and Bahrainis before that.
“Up to this point, we have developed good bilateral relations with our Bahraini friends over a long period of time. We hope that after the pandemic crisis, both sides will continue to work to revive bilateral cooperation in many fields, especially labor matters, which are obviously very important to the Philippines.” , as well as commercial investments. These areas include education, health, culture and the arts.”
Lewis added that apart from entertainment and performances, there will be kiosks set up outside the parking lot selling traditional Filipino food and other items.
“Our Bahraini friends and other expats can taste Filipino food and cuisine in this festival as well. We will also have many stalls selling goods from the Philippines. In addition to their stalls, on January 27th we will host an art show. January 27th and 28th will see this event inside The Mall. We will have a match, 3v3 Basketball Tournament, on Friday, July 27th, at 10:00 am in partnership with the Filipino Club Basketball Group. This. We have invited everyone who is interested to attend this event, not just Filipinos.”
Lewis added that there will also be a Zumba session, a bazaar, live performances, various family activities and an art exhibition with a “Kids Handicrafts Corner” in collaboration with Filipino Creatives Bahrain.
She said that there is no entry fee to the festival and that everyone is welcome to attend for free.
“We hope that many Filipinos, as well as our Bahraini friends and members of other communities, will participate in this unique event. We have a strong support system and a sense of ‘community life’ whenever Filipinos travel abroad, so I think it is so important that we come together as a community. New to the nation and the patriotism in us, in my opinion, will remind us how rich our culture and traditions are. This is a festival, and as we all know, festivals and festivals play an important role in Philippine culture.”
