Manama, November 7 (BNA) The Ombudsman, Nawaf Muhammad Al-Maawda, received here today, in the presence of Deputy Ombudsman Ghada Hamid Habib, a delegation from the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation. By Tatiana Moskalkova with the Russian Consul in Manama.
The delegation is visiting the Kingdom at the invitation of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR).
The Ombudsman briefed the delegation on the competencies of the Ombudsman’s office and its role in consolidating respect for human rights principles, in addition to its cooperation with other national institutions and bodies, including the National Human Rights Institution.
He was also briefed on the most important information and statistics contained in the reports of the Board of Grievances regarding his efforts in serving the public.
Al-Moawda also noted the role played by the Bahraini Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission to promote the rights of inmates and detainees through its visits and recommendations to improve the level of services provided to them, in line with international standards.
The meeting was attended by the Vice President of the National Institution for Human Rights Khaled Abdulaziz Al-Shaer and member of the Board of Commissioners Dina Abdul Rahman, who in addition to the Board of Grievances.
