Work summary:
Provide vision and professional leadership for the nursery ensuring its success and improvement, ensuring high quality education for all students and improved standards of learning and achievement. The professional duties of the school principal are contained in the Nursery Teacher Development and Conditions Document, and the main areas of the presidency are contained in the International Standards for Principals, the Organization’s Standards and Purposes.

Main areas of responsibility
• Promote a safe institution that achieves high standards in all areas of nursery work.
• Develop programs to enable nursery students and their families to achieve academic goals.
• Maintain clear values ​​and goals to ensure the provision of world-class education to all groups in the nursery.
• Maintain strong governance and support the Board of Directors effectively to understand its role and perform its functions effectively. In particular, its functions to set nursery strategies, goals, development plans, expansions and projects, and to hold the principal accountable for students, staff, and financial performance.
• Maintain high quality education through effective management of teaching and learning and the use of student-centered learning to achieve the potential of all students.
• Maintain optimistic and positive behavior, relationships and positive attitudes towards students, staff, parents, government officials, and members of the local and international community.
• Promote a culture that maintains excellence, equality and high expectations for all students.
• Provide vision, leadership and direction to the academic nursery team, students and parents, and ensure the management and organization of the nursery to achieve its goals, objectives, vision and mission.
• Ensure the highest level of professional representation of the nursery’s mission, vision, values, achievements and objectives to students, staff, parents, government officials, and members of the local and international community.
• Driving integrity, creativity, flexibility and clarity, while adhering to the policies, regulations, and instructions of the Company, Nursery, Oman’s Ministry of Social Development, and international education standards.
• Maintain broad knowledge and understanding of education systems and nurseries locally, nationally and globally, and pursue the continuous development of the nursery and academic team.
• Work with strategic and financial intelligence within a set of clear principles centered around the nursery’s vision, mission and marketing and development plans.

• Implement ambitious standards for all students by promoting and ensuring a strong sense of accountability in staff for the impact of their work on student outcomes and annual improvement plans.
• Ensure that custody systems, organization, policies, procedures and processes are well organized, effective and fit for purpose, while maintaining the principles of transparency, integrity and probity.
• Evaluate the performance of the nursery to identify priorities for continuous improvement and raise standards. Ensuring equal opportunities for all and maintaining the growth of the nursery and improving student performance as a major priority.
• Securing an excellent standard of education through an analytical understanding of how students learn and the key methodologies for successful classroom practice and curriculum design, resulting in rich curricular opportunities and outstanding student outcomes.
• Explore all emerging challenges, train and aspire current leaders in a climate where excellence is the standard, leading to clear succession planning.
• Ensure annual annual progress meetings and program implementation to align with academic success.
• Develop policies in accordance with the management of nursery performance, succession planning and recruitment requirements.
• Review and update nursery policies and procedures every year and update them in accordance with international child rights policies and Omani laws.
• Arrange expenditures and budget with nursery financing to meet financial commitments.
• Encouraging nurseries in the community and strengthening relationships within the surrounding private and public nurseries.
• Attending meetings of various levels and representing the nursery before the Omani government and public sector representatives.
• Establishing, managing and ensuring attractive, orderly, functional, healthy and safe facilities with attention to different age groups and Omani and international cultures.
• Maintain a safe, calm and well-organized environment for all students and staff, with an emphasis on protecting students and developing exemplary behavior in the nursery and in the wider community.
• Establish strict, fair and transparent systems and procedures for evaluating the performance of all employees, addressing any weaknesses in performance, and supporting employees to improve and evaluate excellent practices.
• Working with nurseries and other organizations – in a climate of mutual challenge – to support best practices and secure excellent achievement for all students.
• Ensure health, safety, environment and welfare procedures for students, parents and staff within the nursery premises.
• Develop procedures and periodic exercises in emergencies and disasters.
• Distributing leadership throughout the organization, creating teams of colleagues who have specific roles and responsibilities and hold each other accountable for their decisions.
• Ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively to achieve the nursery’s goals, objectives and day-to-day management
• Leading the representation of the nursery in the community and educational associations at the local and international levels to communicate with the nursery and its achievements.
• Support nursery start-up activities such as presentations, orientations, open days, social media advertisements, marketing campaigns, employee induction programs and all levels of preparation.
• Secures the broader community’s commitment to nursery by developing and maintaining effective relationships and partnerships with, for example, neighboring nurseries, other children’s services and agencies, higher education institutions, government agencies and employers.
• Liaise with the Nursery Administration Department to ensure proper communication and the highest level of communication and parental satisfaction.
• Contacting the nursery administration department to develop effective marketing plans for the nursery and to promote proper communication with the community.
• Liaise with the Nursery Administration Department to collect detailed information on the number of students and prepare an appropriate plan for the number of faculty members needed.
• Liaise with the Human Resources Department to ensure that the required number of employees is appointed, and to avoid over staffing or staff shortages.
• Liaise with the Human Resources Department to ensure an environment is created where all employees are motivated and supported to develop their skills and subject knowledge, and support each other.
• Head the academic role of the Recruitment Committee, evaluate new applicants and report to the Human Resources Department regarding suitable potential applicants.

• Ensure proper communication between all departments of the nursery.
• Arrange weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings with SLT nursery members, to ensure implementation of the year’s goal and nursery development plan.
• Review, evaluate and update the nursery’s vision and mission in accordance with international nursery regulations and standards and the Omani Ministry of Social Development.
• Liaise with the events coordinator to plan, prepare and organize trips, events and different levels of activities within the nursery or local and international communities.
• Keeping abreast of the rules, policies, procedures, requirements and instructions of the Ministry of Social Development and the international curricula followed by the nursery.
• Seeking to obtain international and governmental accreditations for the nursery and ensuring that it is prepared according to the international standards required for accreditation.
• Supervising the activities of the nursery to ensure the achievement of educational goals and outcomes.
• Support the accreditation process as a new nursery grows.
• Provide consistent and compassionate customer service to students, parents and referral sources.

• Certificate in Early Childhood Education or equivalent
• Certificate in Educational Leadership
• Experienced in the Reggio Emilia philosophy and the foundation stage in the early years
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a nursery manager/manager
• Experienced in the international accreditation process

Al Shumookh International School (SIS) is a new global K-12 school in Muscat. The school was opened by Global Education Services (GES) for the 2015/2016 academic year in Al Hail.

A new school has been established and, in addition to the international curriculum and excellent staff, the school intends to become one of the distinguished international schools in Muscat. It will attract students from both the local Omani community and the expatriate community. Both will be rewarded with a first-class educational experience.
