Manama, November 28 (BNA): The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced the launch of nominations for the thirteenth session of the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication. Technology in Education, and that the deadline for submission of nominations is February 18, 2022.
This year’s edition focuses on using technology to empower inclusive education systems to respond to crises.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, stressed the great importance of the prestigious international award, launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and approved by UNESCO, in appreciation of the initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education for all segments of society. Using information and communication technology in line with the objectives of UNESCO and the Kingdom’s policies in the field of digital learning.
Dr. Al-Naimi pointed out that the increasing number of participants from different countries proves its importance in serving humanity through education.
The Minister indicated that this year’s edition recognizes projects that use technology in implementing educational programs in a way that ensures the continuity of education and maintains its quality, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances imposed by the emerging Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic, which causes disruption of education all over the world. .
UNESCO has invited individuals, institutions and non-governmental organizations to contact the national committees in their countries and international non-governmental organizations that have official relations with UNESCO to inquire about nomination procedures and to fill out nomination forms in English and French.
Founded in 2005, the award rewards individuals and organizations that implement outstanding projects and promote the creative use of technologies to advance learning, teaching, and inclusive educational performance in the digital age.
An international jury selects the best projects annually. Each award winner receives a cash prize, a medal and a diploma during a special ceremony held on this occasion.
