NIAD ‘Forever Green’ campaign given green cover support

Manama, December 13 (BNA) In a nationwide campaign to increase the green belt areas in Bahrain, Lulu Hypermarket announced its support for the national “Forever Green” campaign.

The campaign was recently launched under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, President of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD).

The campaign aims to expand green spaces in Bahrain and contribute to the fight against climate change.

From December 12, Lulu customers can support the national campaign to green Bahrain by purchasing tree or shrub cuttings from a specially selected selection of plants that help grow in Bahrain’s climate.

As part of their support for the campaign, Lulu customers will get one free plant cut per purchase. This special offer runs until December 31, 2021 at all Lulu hypermarkets across the Kingdom.

In this regard, the campaign and farmers market in Lulu Dana Mall were inaugurated by the Secretary General of Al Nayad, Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa.

The green opening of Lulu’s Forever Green Initiative is part of its support for local agricultural initiatives and Bahraini farmers.

The farmers market will feature fresh produce – vegetables, herbs, fruits and eggs as well as dairy products from Bahraini farms that are today in peak season.

Sheikha Maram thanked Lulu Group for joining the national campaign and for its continuous support to Bahraini farmers.

She also stressed how much difference this collaboration has made in improving the skills of farmers who are now focusing on growing products based on demand and feedback from retailers such as Lulu Hyper Market.

The national campaign aims to launch afforestation projects in the four governorates of the Kingdom by planting more than 50,000 trees and shrubs on an area of ​​more than 70,000 square meters and more than 21,000 linear meters during the first phase, which will continue until March 2022.
