Egyptian President meets Modi

Cairo, June 25 (BNA): Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said today, Sunday, that he is confident that India’s presidency of the G20 will contribute to containing the negative repercussions of international challenges on the global economy.


During a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently visiting Egypt, he said that Egypt is ready to cooperate fully with India as chair of the G20 to push forward constructive talks with the aim of better dealing with energy crises, climate change and food shortages. .


Presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said the two leaders held talks during which they stressed the historical relations between their two countries.


Fahmy explained that the meeting also discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of communications, information technology, pharmaceutical industries, higher education, energy, tourism and culture.


They also talked about maximizing the volume of trade exchange and boosting Indian investments in Egypt in the next stage.


The presidential spokesman said that Sisi and Modi also discussed the latest regional and international developments of common interest.


Modi has invited Sisi to attend the upcoming G20 summit in New Delhi, Fahmy said, adding that the two leaders signed a declaration to elevate relations to the level of strategic partnership.


The spokesman said that Sisi awarded the Medal of the Nile to Prime Minister Modi.
