Industry Ministry Undersecretary launches MEET ICT and BITEX

Manama, July 4 (BNA): Under the auspices of His Excellency Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Iman Ahmed Al-Dosari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, inaugurated the 11th Conference on Information and Communication Technology (MEET ICT). Bahrain International Technology Exhibition (BITEX).

The launch will take place from 4th to 6th July under the theme “Achieving Sustainable Development through Digital Transformation of Industries, Companies and Governments” organized by the Bahrain Technology Companies Association (BTEC) and Worksmart Event Management.

The Undersecretary affirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting the technology sector, stressing the pivotal role played by the communications and information technology sector in creating job opportunities, supporting the gross domestic product and accelerating the economic development process.

She added that the Bahraini government encourages local companies and projects that offer advanced technological ideas and solutions, in addition to the advanced digital infrastructure in Bahrain, and the adoption of cloud technologies and qualified and trained human cadres are among the main factors in attracting partnerships with global leaders. In the field of technology and to enhance the ecosystem of Bahrain and make it an attractive destination for innovative projects.

Tariq Fakhro, Chairman of the Authority’s Board of Directors, expressed the association’s appreciation to the ministry for this sponsorship, stressing the association’s keenness to enhance cooperation between the ministry and the sector’s companies and institutions.

The conference will deal with developing technological strategies to enhance the Kingdom’s position in the future, including encouraging consumers to use sustainable products and services, redirecting capital to sustainable solutions, and inspiring governments to adopt sustainable approaches.

In addition, the conference encourages professionals and companies to discuss how digital transformation can improve their business and increase productivity.
