Slokavia defender Milan Skriniar joins PSG on a five-year deal

Paris, July 6 (BNA): Paris Saint-Germain strengthened its defense today, Thursday, by signing Milan Skriniar on a five-year contract, a year after the absence of the former Inter Milan defense heart.

Paris Saint-Germain announced their first new player of the summer a day after unveiling new coach Luis Enrique, the Associated Press (AP).

After his contract with Inter expired, the burly Slovak international has been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain for several months after the French champions failed to reach a financial agreement with the Serie A team last year.

PSG has reportedly been very active in the transfer market in recent weeks and is expected to announce more signings. Luis Enrique has vowed to build a competitive squad in a bid to compete for the Champions League title.

PSG said the 28-year-old Skriniar joined Sampdoria in 2016 and became the youngest defender to play at least 35 Serie A matches. Then he moved to Inter Milan and played 246 games with 10 goals in five seasons.

“There is always pressure when you join a club like PSG,” Skriniar said. “I feel it a little bit, but I feel ready, ready to be part of this really big club. But I like pressure. I’m a defender, so we know everything.”

Skriniar won the Italian league title with Inter in 2021 and the Italian Cup twice. He made 60 appearances for Slovakia, scoring three goals.
