Washington, Jul. 15 (BNA): Lionel Messi has finalized his agreement to join Major League Soccer, and after years of planning and follow-up, Inter Miami has achieved a global icon.
Messi’s contract became official on Saturday, just over five weeks after announcing he was coming to Inter Miami, according to the Associated Press.
The team will show him Sunday night at home in Fort Lauderdale, and the first home game of the Messi era could be Friday in the League Cup match against Cruz Azul.
An official press conference is scheduled for Monday, and his first training session with his new club is expected on Tuesday.
The club earlier announced that Messi’s deal would be for two seasons and would pay him between $50m and $60m a year – with a total value of between $125m and $150m in cash alone.
