Jabeur crushes Kvitova to set up rematch of 2022 final with Rybakina

London, July 10 (BNA): Ons Jabeur rematched last year’s Wimbledon quarter-final match against Elena Rybakina by defeating former champion Petra Kvitova 6-0, 6-3 in a demolition task at Center Court on Monday.

Sixth seed Jabeur of Tunisia was forced out of a set against Bianca Andreescu on Saturday but had no such problems on a sultry afternoon as she raced the first set in 22 minutes almost without confrontation, reports Reuters.

Her variety of crowd-pleasing slides, changes of pace and angle left the 2011 and 2014 champ in the dark. The Czech ninth seed made the shortest recovery in the second set but it did not last as Jabeur finished elegantly, smashing the love.

The third seed, Kazakh Rybakina, who beat Jabir in three sets in last year’s final, qualified after Brazilian Beatrice Haddad Maya retired 4-1 in the first set due to a back injury.
