SFD, AGU sign development agreement

Manama, July 25 (BNA): Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Murshid, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, and Dr. Abdulrahman Yousef Ismail, Acting President of the Arabian Gulf University, signed a development agreement to finance a project to supply medical devices for the academic hospital of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City in Bahrain, at a value of 173.7 million Saudi riyals.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Saleh bin Falah Al-Otaibi, Deputy Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

This project comes within the grant provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to finance the Social Fund for Development to establish King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City at the Arabian Gulf University, at a value of 1 billion Saudi riyals.

The project aims to provide the university hospital with the latest medical devices and equipment, according to the highest international standards, to contribute to the development of four important medical specialties, including internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and the Department of Surgery, in an effort to enable integrated health care systems in the medical city.

Al-Murshed stressed that this agreement is an extension of the well-established historical development relations between the Social Fund for Development and Bahrain.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Youssef noted the importance of the project, which will contribute to strengthening the medical equipment of the hospital, which would develop its medical capabilities and improve health services.

He pointed to the effectiveness of the best services provided after the establishment of the medical city buildings, which contain a nine-storey hospital with a capacity of about 300 medical beds, with a total area estimated at about 70,000 square meters.
