Rabat, June 16 (BNA): Parliament Rachid Mohamed Bounejmeh held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chongong, on the sidelines of the Interfaith Dialogue Conference, entitled “Parliaments and Religious Leaders: Promoting Dialogue, Working Together for Our Common Future”, held in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Secretary-General stressed the commitment to exchanging experiences with the General Secretariat of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and building bridges of cooperation with all parliaments.
He stressed the importance of highlighting the role of legislative bodies in supporting the international community in dealing with key issues, especially peaceful coexistence, intolerance and hatred.
He noted the invitation made by the 146th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was held in the Kingdom of Bahrain last March, stressing the keenness to attend international parliamentary events, in light of the development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Chungong praised Bahrain’s efforts to support peace and coexistence, and praised the role of the legislative authority in promoting these concepts and values.
