Manama, July 16 (BNA): Today, the executive and legislative authorities held their second coordination meeting dedicated to restructuring the government subsidy system.
The meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Representative Abdul Nabi Salman, the First Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, Jamal Muhammad Fakhro, and the Minister of Parliament Affairs, Ghanim bin Fadl Al-Buainain.
The committee affirmed that its joint meetings will discuss ways to raise the efficiency of government support by ensuring that it benefits from deserving citizens only, according to the laws and regulations in force, and the eligibility criteria agreed upon between the two branches.
The committee highlighted the increasing constructive cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities in exchanging information and opinions, as well as responding to inquiries submitted by legislators.
The committee confirmed that government support will be discussed in detail to ensure the sustainability of the support system.
Representatives of the two branches discussed general principles for restructuring the government subsidy system.
The government’s responses to questions posed by the legislature were also discussed.
