SCW’s workshop on media coverage of family issues concludes

Manama, June 24 (BNA): A workshop organized by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Women for media professionals and journalists on covering family issues has concluded.

The three-day workshop focused on the “Guide to Media Coverage of Family Affairs” was held at the headquarters of the Supreme Council for Women in Riffa, and was attended by representatives of various media outlets.

Shaikha Dina bint Rashid Al Khalifa, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, expressed in her speech the important and influential role of media professionals in supporting the national plan for the advancement of Bahraini women, especially in the field of family stability, which aims to achieve family cohesion and protect the family entity.

She indicated that the workshop aims to consult on ways to invest in the guide that was launched in cooperation with the Ministry of Information and the Bahraini Journalists Association in 2022, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation, as well as exchanging experiences and knowledge in various fields. media fields.

The first day of the workshop focused on how the media deals with issues related to women and the family, and stressing the need to adhere to accuracy, objectivity and impartiality.

The second day was devoted to raising awareness of national legislation and laws related to the family and the rights of women and children, such as the Family Law, the Child Law and the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence, in addition to presenting national strategies. in the field of family.

On the third day, the workshop shed light on family services provided by various official agencies, with a special focus on best practices and successful cases that led to family reconciliation through the Women’s Support Center of the Supreme Council for Women.

The guide to media coverage of family affairs aims to enhance the media’s role in raising awareness of the concepts and principles of family stability and cohesion, and gender balance at the social level.

It also aims to ensure that the media covers family-related issues with a high level of transparency, credibility, and professionalism, in order to protect the interests of the family and society, and ensure privacy.
