Alba: first company in Bahrain to use Solar-Electric powered industrial personnel carriers

Manama, June 25 / BNA / After launching the ESG roadmap in April 2022, Aluminum Bahrain B.S.C. Solar and electric powered industrial personnel carriers are transported within the smelter premises.

Ali Al Baqali, Chief Executive Officer of Alba, joined Chief Energy Officer Amin Sultan to inaugurate these new stations located in the car parks of Power Stations 3, 4 and 5, Control and Service Buildings.

The three solar charging stations will contribute to a combined saving of approximately 110,000 kWh per year, corresponding to a reduction of 42 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Furthermore, each station is equipped with a battery storage system that allows charging during the evening period, along with a facility to push any excess power back into Alba’s electricity grid, thus maximizing the utilization of the clean energy generated.

With these new PCs, Alba will maintain daily fuel savings of 9.9 liters per PC as well as achieve an annual reduction (for all three PCs) of approximately 25 tons of CO2.
