BOC, IOA sign cooperation agreement

Manama, July 24 (BNA): Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Public Authority for Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the Bahrain Olympic Committee signed a cooperation agreement with the International Olympic Academy of the International Olympic Committee.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, CEO of the Financial Regulatory Authority, and Faris Al-Kooheji, Secretary General of the BOC, in addition to a number of IOA officials.

Under the agreement, the Olympic Academy of the Beijing Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee of the International Olympic Committee will strengthen their cooperation through the exchange of experiences.

The agreement also stipulates that the Association’s lecturers will provide programs and training courses in the Kingdom.

The agreement also paves the way for a number of Bahrainis to study the Olympic Masters offered by the International Olympic Academy.

Commenting on this, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed his great pleasure at signing the agreement with the International Olympic Academy, which is one of the oldest and largest scientific sports bodies in the world, as it supervises all Olympic academies affiliated to the National Olympic Committees.

His Highness added that the British Olympic Committee attaches great importance to administrative and technical programs that contribute to the graduation of qualified sports competencies from the most prestigious universities and sports institutes.

His Highness Sheikh Khalid indicated that the British Olympic Committee will continue to support Olympic education and promote sports culture, which will reflect positively on the outputs of the sports movement in the Kingdom.
