Morocco shifts focus to next game after a big loss in its Women’s World Cup debut

Melbourne, July 24 (BNA): Morocco’s first match in the Women’s World Cup ended with a 6-0 loss to two-time champions Germany, in what coach Reynald Pedro’s described as a “David vs. Goliath” match.

Germany came in second place, Atlas Lionesses in 72nd place, and the first Arab or North African team to qualify.

Monday’s margin of defeat was the largest so far in the tournament as Morocco was one of eight teams to debut, reports the Associated Press.

The opening match is now history, Pedro’s explained, and Morocco’s focus must move quickly to the next match against South Korea.

“Obviously our goal is to get back to work as quickly as possible,” he said. “We are still staying positive, this is very important.”
