Dutch midfielder Simons departs PSV to re-sign with French champions PSG

Paris, July 16 (BNA): Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons left PSV Eindhoven to complete his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, the French Premier League champions.

The former Barcelona academy player moved to PSV on a five-year deal from Paris Saint-Germain last year upon the expiry of his contract.

Reuters reports that Simmons left Spain to join the French capital in 2019 before making his professional debut in 2021 and winning the League and the French Cup.

“Xavi Simons leaves the training camp immediately to complete his transfer with Paris Saint-Germain,” PSV said in a statement.

Simons helped PSV to a second-place finish in the Eredivisie, making 34 appearances, scoring 19 goals and recording eight assists.

He has won the KNVB Cup, the Johan Cruyff Shield and the Eredivisie top scorer award during his time at the club.

“The twenty-year-old striker came to PSV last year and became an important player in (former manager) Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team,” the club added.
