UNDP, Youth Ministry conclude YLP9 2023

Manama, July 17 (BNA): The United Nations Development Program in Bahrain, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, held the closing ceremony of the ninth edition of the Young Leaders Program (YLP9) 2023.

Mrs. Rawan bint Najib Tawfiq, Minister of Youth Affairs, attended the ceremony, in the presence of Firas Gharaibeh, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program.

YLP9 was an intensive seven-week program focused on green economy, capacity building, and youth empowerment to drive progress and development.

The minister emphasized the importance of this program in developing youth skills and knowledge.

She added, “We support youth initiatives to enhance the development of youth capabilities, energies, and creativity to contribute to the sustainable development process.”

Gharaibeh confirmed that this ceremony coincides with Bahrain’s Second Voluntary National Review 2023, which is being presented at the United Nations High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) this week.

“The United Nations Development Program supports Bahraini youth in their leadership journey, as an example of social innovation working together for sustainable development,” he said.

As one of the most prominent regional programs in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program for the Arab States, YLP9 was launched in 2015 to enable a new generation of young leaders to develop their skills, ideas and projects in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development in the Arab region. .
