Interior Minister: We don’t need preachers or chanters from abroad

Manama, July 20 (BNA): His Excellency the Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received Yusef Saleh Al-Saleh, Head of the Jaafari Endowments Department, members of the Husseini Processions Authority and heads of community centers, within the framework of cooperation efforts and coordination of activities related to the Ashura commemoration.

The meeting was attended by Nawwaf bin Muhammad Al-Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Lieutenant General Tariq Al-Hassan, Head of Public Security and Governors.

The meeting comes within the framework of the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to contribute to the success of the celebration of Ashura, in line with the community partnership strategy and the approach of engagement with all segments of society.

The Minister of Interior delivered a speech in which he thanked everyone for attending the meeting, and extended his greetings on the occasion of the new Hijri year and conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He said that the meeting embodied the Bahraini society’s approach to communication and participation, which contributes to strengthening national unity and cooperation among citizens.

The minister said that such meetings provide a platform for meeting people, exchanging ideas and viewpoints, enhancing a sense of solidarity and unity, and thwarting attempts at disagreement.

The minister expressed his thanks and appreciation for the commitment, cooperation and discipline that contributed to the success of the Ashura commemoration last year, adding that this reflects social awareness and dedication to shouldering national responsibility.

He highlighted the ministry’s efforts to contain the spread of illegal drugs in society, and urged the strengthening of cooperation from all segments of society in this regard.

The minister affirmed that he will spare no effort to confront any issue that may negatively affect the future and security of youth and national achievements.

Major General Sheikh Rashid stressed the importance of adhering to social values, rejecting hatred, and working to create a safe and friendly environment.

“We live in a country that needs to direct its joint efforts so that we can face our national challenges,” the minister said, stressing the importance of checking disinformation that aims to undermine national efforts and create social tension.

On the day of Ashura, the minister said that Bahrain has qualified preachers and preachers who are always ready to perform their religious responsibilities.

Therefore, we do not need preachers and preachers from abroad, he said.

The minister also said that Bahrain is not a religious tourist destination, and that Ashura rituals are here for mourners in Bahrain.

He emphasized that the spirituality and uniqueness of the occasion must be respected, while preserving national interests.

The minister thanked the attendees for their efforts, stressing cooperation in organizing the Ashura celebration for this year.
