Bahrain’s democratic strides reflect national inclusive approach, Speaker

Manama, June 29 (BNA): Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam said that the democratic momentum in Bahrain is moving forward towards achieving more achievements under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

He highlighted the synergy between the sincere national will and broad political and legislative participation based on the principles and results stipulated in the National Action Charter and the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He praised the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the efforts exerted to achieve the royal visions, and the keenness on constructive cooperation between the legislative and executive branches of the government.

This came in a statement by the Speaker of Parliament at a time when the Kingdom of Bahrain joins other countries in celebrating the International Day of Parliamentarians, which is celebrated annually on June 30.

He highlighted Bahrain’s steady democratic progress, which has won international recognition and praise for the kingdom, as a model for parliamentary work.

He referred to Bahrain’s success in hosting the 146th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the meeting of the Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development Committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, which represented a regional and international vote.

He pointed out that the percentage of popular participation in the 2022 parliamentary and municipal elections, which reached 73%, the highest since 2002, confirmed Bahrain’s comprehensive national approach, and the people’s interest in political participation in national decision-making.

He pinned hopes on parliamentary diplomacy to contribute to promoting the values ​​and principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, supporting popular participation in legislative institutions, and opening broader horizons for cooperation in developmental fields, especially economic and investment.
