Bahrain to play Tunisia in (FIVB)2023 Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship

Manama, July 6 (BNA): Bahrain will face the Bahrain national team tomorrow, Friday, in the opening match of the 2023 World Volleyball Championship for men.


The opening match of the 16-country Pool A Championship will kick off at 08:00 pm at the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) hall.


The U-21 national team defeated Mexico in three straight sets (25-22 / 25-22 / 25-12), in a friendly match that was held last Wednesday.


This is the fourth time Bahrain has hosted the World Championships, with the event being held under the auspices of the First Vice President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC). ) His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the State.


Bahrain was drawn into Group A of the 2023 World Championship along with Tunisia, Thailand and Iran. The national team will meet Thailand on Saturday before facing Iran in their final preliminary round match on Sunday.


The national team held a training camp in Slovenia last April, during which it crowned Austria, Croatia and Slovenia in eight friendly matches in preparation for the World Championship.


Led by the national team coach, Saber Abdul Wahed said that Bahrain hopes to achieve victory in its opening match, which will enhance its chances in the preliminary match.
