Pogacar wins Pyrenees big stage and Vingegaard claims Tour de France yellow jersey

Paris, July 6 (BNA): Tadezh Pogacar is not finished yet. Just 24 hours after losing more than a minute to his biggest rival in the Tour de France, Jonas Vinggaard Pogacar has shown he’s not ready to give up, rekindling the thrill of Tour de France’s biggest.

Pogacar, the twice defending champion, who was ousted by Vingaard last summer, achieved the tenth victory of his career on Thursday after a stunning counterattack that dropped the defending champion at the end of the second and final stage in the Pyrenees.

Vingegaard crossed the finish line 24 seconds behind Pogacar after a vibrant duel and captured the yellow jersey, 25 seconds behind his Slovenian rival, reports the AP.

Night leader Guy Hindley dropped to third overall, 1 minute and 34 seconds off the lead.

Stage 6’s brutal 145-kilometre (90-mile) mountaintop finish from the southwestern city of Tarbes to the Campassque plateau featured three challenging climbs including the legendary Col du Tourmalet.
