Brussels, June 16 (BNA): The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Belgium and Head of Mission to the European Union, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jaber Al-Dosari, headed the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the Seventh Brussels Conference on “Supporting the Future of Syria”. and the region”, which is hosted by the European Union at the headquarters of the European Council here.
During the meeting, Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stressed the need to reach a political solution in Syria, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
He stressed that aid directed to the Syrians must be effective and sustainable, calling for not ignoring the needs of neighboring countries that host Syrian and Palestinian refugees.
He extended thanks and gratitude to the countries in the region that continue to host Syrian refugees, and announced that the European Union has allocated 1.5 billion euros for Syrian refugees and host countries.
The conference succeeded in mobilizing aid for the Syrians inside the country and in neighboring countries, through international pledges worth 5.6 billion euros for the year 2023 and beyond.
