Bahrain calls for promoting peace culture globally

New York, June 16 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain stressed the importance of the world’s awareness of the need to promote a culture of peace by focusing on the role of dialogue and mediation in preventing conflicts by creating the necessary conditions for resolving them. conflicts in peaceful and sustainable ways, as well as strengthening the role of preventive diplomacy.


This came in the words of the permanent representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Jamal Al-Ruwaie, during his speech before the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the item entitled “Culture of Peace”, which was held at the United Nations headquarters here on Tuesday. Wednesday.


The Permanent Representative affirmed that the Kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, confirms its pride in its civilizational history and ancient culture. On the basis of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.


He affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain supports the efforts of the international community to consolidate global peace and security, out of its belief in the importance of establishing relations between nations and civilizations on the basis of friendship, understanding, dialogue and respect for others within the framework of commitment. To the teachings of the tolerant Islamic law and international laws, customs and covenants, in addition to the commitment to protect human rights and dignity for all without discrimination on the basis of race, gender or religion.

Ambassador Al-Ruwaie referred to the Kingdom’s call to the international community to agree to an international agreement to criminalize religious, sectarian and racist hate speech in all its forms, spread a culture of peace, understanding and acceptance of the other, and strengthen ties. Brotherhood and friendship among nations, and the integration and dissemination of these values ​​in educational curricula and religious, cultural and sports activities,


He highlighted the world’s celebration of the International Day of Conscience on April 5 of each year, which was declared by the United Nations General Assembly through Resolution A / SED / 73/329, in appreciation of the importance of global conscience in concerted global efforts to establish peace. And tolerance, saving humanity from the scourge of wars and conflicts, and renouncing violence and hatred, towards a sustainable and secure world where harmony, peaceful coexistence and human brotherhood prevail.


He also highlighted the role played by the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence since its establishment in 2018, citing the international initiatives it launched, and the global conferences for dialogue between religions and cultures that it organized.


In this regard, he highlighted the “Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence,” which was organized by the Global Center on the sidelines of the visits of His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar. Sharif to Bahrain.


He also shed light on the establishment of the “King Hamad International Award for Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence,” in addition to the many awards launched by the Kingdom to serve humanity, support sustainable development, and empower women and youth.
