Neuer extends Bayern contract until 2024

Munich, May 24 (BNA) Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer has signed a one-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2024, the German champions said.

The 36-year-old has won 10 consecutive league titles and two Champions League trophies among a host of domestic and European titles since joining Bayern from Schalke 04 in 2011.

“Manuel is a distinguished figure in the history of Bayern Munich,” CEO Oliver Kahn said in a statement. “(He) has been setting standards around the world for years. It’s a huge achievement to always be world class.”

Germany captain Neuer, who has played more than 470 games for Bayern in all competitions, is the second long-time player to extend his stay in Bavaria after striker Thomas Muller renewed his contract until 2024.

“We will have a very good team again that we can compete with for every title,” Neuer said. “As a goalkeeper, captain and captain, I want to be the supporter and the main factor in our big goals.

“We want to expand a record with the title and compete again for the German Cup and the Champions League.”
