Abu Dhabi, April 18 (BNA) The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation confirmed that the Nawah Energy Company (Nawat) has started the regular phase of nuclear refueling and maintenance of the first unit at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.
During this phase, new nuclear fuel assemblies will be added and a number of maintenance and testing activities will be carried out for equipment used for power production, safety-related systems, and more.
The authority said in a statement that it is currently conducting regulatory oversight activities, including audit and inspection programs in the refueling phase of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant and its maintenance to ensure that all activities associated with it are as required by the authority’s regulations.
Following the completion of the refueling phase, Unit 1 will return to energy operations after obtaining the authority’s approval, the statement said.
