NatWest to pay $351 million for money laundering offenses

LONDON, Dec. 14 (BNA) The state-backed NatWest Bank (NWG.L) will pay a 265 million pound ($351.13 million) fine after pleading guilty to failing to prevent the laundering of nearly 400 million pounds, Reuters reported.

The fine, issued as a penalty on Monday, is the culmination of a landmark case in which Nat West became the first bank to be criminally prosecuted in Britain for a crime of this kind.

The main fine of 365 million pounds was deducted as a result of the lender’s guilty plea.
