Manama, Mar. 22 (BNA): The Bahrain School hosted 57 middle and high school students at the Delmon branch of the National Honor Society and the National Junior Honor Society.
The students selected for membership, 31 from middle school and 26 from high school, have achieved high academic standing and have completed a written application.
Volunteers were selected by a blind faculty panel based on their demonstrated actions in support of the four pillars of the National Honor Society – Service, Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship.
The joint ceremony, which was held under strict health protocols, was attended by members of the school’s teaching staff and parents.
In his speech, NHS chief Dimitri Mohamed welcomed the new volunteers. NHS/NJHS officials Matab Ibrahim, Cayden Dinkler, Gaylene Thomas, Anya Dinkler and Hannah Lamb introduced the staff of the NHS and congratulated the bailiffs.
Class counselor, math teacher Annette Bagley, and German/Spanish teacher Dulce Nombre Madrid presented certificates to each new member, demonstrating the student-led welcome and community nature.
After the new members received their certificates, Principal Shana Sirait congratulated the recruits and commended their diligence, commitment, and dedication. She spoke about the importance of adhering to the values instilled in the NHS Pledge and the NJHS. She encouraged the students to continue in their leadership abilities and to be true to themselves.
Bagley commented that the recruits represented 11 different countries.
“Each recruit has distinguished himself through dedicated work, according to his individual talents,” she said.
The Delmon Branch of the National Honor Society, chartered in the late 1970s, has been celebrating induction ceremonies at Bahrain Secondary School since 1979.
