Washington, Jan. 19 (BNA): NASA and aircraft maker Boeing will work together to create a passenger plane with lower emissions, NASA announced Wednesday.

“Our goal is that NASA’s partnership with Boeing to produce and test a full-scale demonstrator will help lead to future commercial aircraft that are more fuel efficient, with benefits for the environment, the commercial aviation industry, and passengers around the world,” Nelson said. .
Over seven years, NASA will invest $425 million to build, test and fly a full-size display aircraft, while Boeing and its partners will contribute the remaining amount of agreement financing, estimated at $725 million.
As part of the agreement, the agency will also contribute technical expertise and facilities. NASA said that single-aisle aircraft are responsible for nearly half of aviation emissions worldwide.
NASA plans to complete testing of the project by the late 2020s so that the new design can take to the skies in the 2030s.
