NAO holds 77 training courses in 2021

Manama, March 7 / BNA / The National Audit Bureau (NAO) held 77 internal and external training courses in cooperation with local, regional and international organizations, institutions and specialized bodies, benefiting more than 490 participants.


The office conducted 30 internal training courses for 359 participants, while 131 participants benefited from 47 external courses and webinars.


The office participated in 11 meetings and conferences during the past year, which were attended by 41 employees from different directorates.

Director of Human and Financial Resources Aisha Adam said that the Bureau pays great attention to providing continuous training courses and professional qualification for its employees in cooperation with international, regional and local expert training institutions to enhance their professional and technical capabilities. In addition to informing them of the latest developments in the field of auditing.


She emphasized that all programs and projects comply with international auditing standards, especially professional certificates issued by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).


Adam indicated that the 2021 training plan has been fully implemented according to its initial program, despite the exceptional circumstances caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, as most of the courses were held by default.


NAO administers the Professional Development Program via a scholarship system for its employees to obtain one of the internationally accredited professional qualifications in auditing and accounting such as ACCA (Association of Certified Public Accountants), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA, (internally certified auditor), CISA (Information Systems Auditor). Certified Management Accountant), and CMA (Certified Management Accountant). So far, 43 employees have benefited from this program, 45% of the auditors, 47% of whom are women.

The Internal Audit Office (NAO) uses the career guidance system as another means of developing the performance of its new employees and provides on-the-job training to ensure that new employees gain the necessary experience and competencies and enhance their communication skills.


The continuous efforts of the National Audit Office to review and develop internal policies and regulations related to human resources, and the reverse evaluation system has been implemented. This enables employees at lower levels to evaluate the performance of employees at higher levels to increase understanding, identify strengths to be strengthened, and improve performance so that aspirations and requirements can be met while creating a positive work environment.


The total female workforce in the office is 46% and women occupy 43% of senior management and supervisory positions.
