Musk Twitter turnaround reflects legal challenges

Washington, Oct. 5 (BUS) – The news that Elon Musk has agreed to go through with his $44 billion deal to buy Twitter may have sounded like a startling surprise to the shock-loving reckless billionaire.

This has sent shares of the social media platform soaring, the Associated Press reported, and sparked concern among some media watchers and civil rights groups concerned about the type of free speech that would thrive on Twitter under Musk’s vision.

But it came as no surprise to observers who spent months in a legal battle between Twitter and Musk, as Twitter tried to force the world’s richest man to complete the acquisition he tried to undo. In the months since his initial offer to buy Twitter in April, Musk faced a major legal challenge.

A combination of Musk’s mistakes and potential merits that didn’t work out made his hand look weak in the looming trial in less than two weeks at Chancery Court in Delaware.

It sets as a condition for the completion of the transaction that the trial has been postponed.
