Municipalities, Oil Ministers visit Dohat Arad

Manama, Nov. 30 (BNA): Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Minister of Oil and Environment Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak bin Dinah visited Arad Doha Park and Reserve as one of the most suitable sites for mangrove cultivation.

The Minister of Agriculture stressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to achieving net zero by 2060, in implementation of the declaration issued by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Change (COP26).

Al-Mubarak explained that the ministry’s initiatives aim to increase the number of trees and agricultural nurseries to produce thousands of mangroves to rehabilitate several areas with the help of local and regional experts.

“We aim to plant 110,000 mangrove trees and 140,000 trees in the streets and public squares,” he said.

The Minister of Environment stressed the participation of the private sector to play a role in the initiative and to provide supportive policies for afforestation.

Bin Dhaina highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to clean waterways, prune degraded trees, and rehabilitate some agricultural areas on the coasts and natural reserves such as Tubli Bay, Ras Sanad, Dohat Arad Reserve, and other important sites.
