Manama, June 25 (BNA) The Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) is organizing its popular webinar entitled “National Leadership in Parliamentary Diplomacy” on Sunday.
First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Abdul Nabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Jamal Muhammad Fakhro and Bahrain’s permanent delegates to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Dr. Yousef Abdul Karim Bucheery, will participate in the webinar.
The symposium aims to review the history of parliamentary work in the Kingdom, shed light on national achievements at the Gulf, Arab and international levels, and introduce the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and its increasing importance in consolidating foreign policy bridges and expanding close cooperation and rapprochement with international parliaments.
It also highlights the contributions of the legislative authority to strengthening the Kingdom’s position in parliamentary diplomatic work, as well as emphasizing the importance of Bahrain’s success in hosting the 146th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Council in March 2023.
The webinar, which coincides with the International Day of Women Parliamentarians, is in line with the goals and mission of the Institute in supporting parliamentary work, promoting a culture of democracy, and developing awareness and knowledge of the role and importance of the legislative authority.
It stresses the importance of the role of parliaments in achieving sustainable development goals, as well as in the decision-making process and legislation, being one of the pillars of democracy.
