Motorsport history to be made this weekend as F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2022 kicks off at BIC

Manama, March 18 (BNA) Sparks and engines will roar with the global sporting spotlight on the Bahrain International Circuit on Friday, as the Bahrain Grand Prix Formula 1 with Gulf Air 2022 begins the new era of Formula 1 amid many events. Excitement and unpredictability.


The world will be watching closely as the Class A superstars take to the 5,412-kilometre desert track for the first time in a competitive session, behind the wheel of their newly designed cars.


The “home of motorsports in the Middle East” will be holding two hours of F1 practice on Friday, the first scheduled to start at 3pm under the midday sun, followed by the second session in the evening starting at 6pm and under the lights.


All 10 F1 teams will put their rivals in their stride in order to prepare them for Saturday’s important qualifying session, which will set the grid for Sunday’s main event: the 57-lap and lighted Bahrain Grand Prix. A third practice will be on Saturday before the playoffs.


Formula 1 is set to be joined on track at the end of this race with the FIA ​​Formula 2 Championship, the FIA ​​Formula 3 Championship and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East. F2 and F3 are holding their opening round of the season in Bahrain, while the Porsche Sprint Challenge will kick off the 2021/2022 Championship Final.


The three support chains will also move to the tarmac on Friday for the opening sessions of the weekend.

The Porsche Sprint Challenge will be the first out on the track in the morning at 10.15am for a first 45-minute practice. The field will then return in the evening for a second training session starting at 8.20pm.


F3 starts their season with practice at 11.25am. The field will then be back on track to qualify at 4.25pm.


For F2, their practice session is scheduled to begin at 12.35pm, to be followed later in the evening at 7.25pm ​​with qualifying.
