Morrison said Australian citizens and residents who are fully vaccinated will be able to travel again to and from the states with an 80 per cent vaccination rate without caps.
“That will start from next month,” Morrison said. Morrison said Australian citizens and residents who have been fully vaccinated with a double dose with a vaccine recognized by the country’s drug regulator, TGA, will be able to self-quarantine at home for seven days.
People who have not been vaccinated or who have been vaccinated with a dose not recognized by TGA will need to perform a 14-day hotel quarantine. Hats will continue to be applied to them.
“The government’s intention is that once the changes are made in November, the current overseas travel restrictions related to COVID-19 will be removed and Australians will be able to travel on any other travel advice and restrictions, as long as they are fully vaccinated,” a government statement said. .
The Canberra government has also been working towards non-quarantine travel to some countries, such as New Zealand, when it is safe to do so.
Australia’s international borders have been closed to all but residents and citizens, with few exceptions, since March 2020, with restrictions imposed on international arrivals in July 2020.
