Modeste levels Dortmund with Bayern late in ‘Klassiker’

Berlin, October 8 (BNA): Borussia Dortmund’s substitute Anthony Modeste scored in the last minute of stoppage time against Bayern Munich, to achieve a dramatic 2-2 draw in the “Classic” in the German Bundesliga on Saturday.

French striker Youssef Moukoko made the equalizer in the 75th minute and then settled what looked like the winning goal in the 95th minute when he hit a cross from Nico Schlutterbeek from close range.

Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane scored with the visitors’ first two shots on target to put Bayern Munich on track for their eighth consecutive league win over their main rival.

But Modeste’s goal deprived Bayern of the lead, and kept Dortmund on the same points with the Bavarian force after nine rounds, according to the Associated Press.

Earlier, Xabi Alonso led Bayer Leverkusen to their second Bundesliga win with a 4-0 lead over visiting Schalke 04 in his debut at the technical level.

Bochum won their first game of the season 3-0 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. Mainz tied 1-1 with Leipzig, and Wolfsburg tied with Augsburg 1-1.
