Madinah, November 2 (BNA) The Saudi Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, affirmed the intention of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to move towards economic diversification and increase trade exchange with Islamic and friendly countries to ensure stable and balanced economic growth.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the minister expressed his country’s aspiration to translate the efforts of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) and other Islamic institutions concerned with standards and quality to contribute to the development and increase of the industry. The level of trade exchange to the imagined level that meets the aspirations and ambitions of Islamic leaders and peoples.
Dr. Al-Qasabi delivered his speech at the opening session of the General Assembly of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries, which is being held at the King Salman International Conference Center in Madinah, with the participation of officials from the International Islamic Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The Fiqh Academy, the Standardization Organization for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, in addition to representatives from several Islamic countries.
The Minister of Commerce said that the magnitude of the challenges facing the global economy as a result of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the great responsibility placed on our shoulders to develop the quality and safety of products and services to improve levels of trade between Islamic countries and support the growth and diversification of the Islamic economy requires us to make more efforts and provide constructive insights More that will support integration among the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The minister added: I take this opportunity, in the presence of the leaders of standardization activities in Islamic countries, to confirm the importance of this stage and highlight the importance of reviewing our strategic plans to support the stage of recovery from the epidemic, and to enable us to deal effectively with rapid technological developments and changes within clear priorities and precise goals.
For his part, the Governor of the Authority and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute, Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, expressed his pride in the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the past years when she headed the Institute’s presidency and the decisions that were taken, and pledged to continue working to support and preserve these efforts. The gains of Islamic cooperation that have been achieved during the past years and the continuation of work to enhance integration and cooperation among member states.
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, in a speech delivered on his behalf by the Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ahmed Quwaisa Sangendu, called on all Islamic countries to make more efforts and prepare to keep pace with developments. of the halal market valued at US$11.2 trillion by 2028.
