Manama, July 30 (BNA) The Minister of Health, Dr. Jalila bint Sayed Jawad Hassan, stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain has taken extensive precautionary measures to prevent the spread of monkeypox, especially in light of the high rates of monkeypox disease. in the number of infected cases globally.
The minister affirmed the commitment of the Bahrain government to ensuring the health and safety of all citizens and residents. She explained that the government has developed a strategy to secure the necessary medical and logistical resources to limit the spread of the disease and deal with infected cases, stressing that epidemiological monitoring efforts are intensifying throughout the Kingdom.
Dr. Jalila said that the concerned authorities have adopted the protocols related to examination, isolation and treatment, based on the recommendations and standards of the World Health Organization, explaining that the Kingdom has not discovered any cases of monkeypox virus infection so far.
As part of the proactive efforts, the Ministry of Health organized awareness sessions for health workers about the virus and its transmission methods, and developed a mechanism for reporting suspected cases at the Public Health Directorate, and assessing diagnostic requirements and contact tracing plans, in addition to the disease. Monitoring requirements and vaccinations.
Speaking about the decisions issued to prevent the spread of the disease, the Minister of Health indicated that they aim to strengthen Bahrain’s response and enhance preventive efforts.
She added that two groups were identified to adhere to the isolation measures to prevent the spread of the virus for a period of 21 days, namely:
1- Persons infected with the virus and have been isolated to receive the necessary treatment and to stabilize their health condition. The isolation period starts from the date of the positive test.
2- Persons suspected of being infected with the virus after contact with an infected person, and the isolation period begins from the date of the last contact with an infected person.
The issued decisions stipulated that the specialists supervising these cases can modify the periods of isolation when needed, without prejudice to the health requirements related to prevention, isolation and treatment of infectious diseases.
The Ministry of Health may, according to the decisions, oblige and subject the categories covered by the provisions of these decisions to isolate them in the designated places determined by the Ministry, in addition to determining the type of such isolation.
The Department may require groups covered by the provisions of these decisions to undergo contact tracing procedures via the BeAware application in order to support their compliance.
