Mesut Özil reveals interest in playing for Bali United

Istanbul, May 26 (BNA) Former Real Madrid and Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has expressed his interest in playing for Indonesian champions Bali United, citing the “good weather” and the beauty of the island.

“I still have a contract with Fenerbahce and I’m happy there,” Ozil told reporters in Jakarta, where he was promoting a local clothing brand.

“If I had the opportunity to play in Indonesia, it would be Bali United,” he said. “The answer is easy, the weather is beautiful and the island is beautiful.”

In response to a question about Liverpool’s match against Real Madrid in the Champions League final next Saturday, the retired German international said he preferred his former team.

“They are both playing a great season, but of course, my heart and my support are for Real Madrid,” he said.

Ozil’s career at Fenerbahce was halted after an argument with the club’s interim manager Ismail Kartal.

He left Arsenal in January 2021 after an eight-year stint.
