Mbappe ‘already forgotten’, says Real’s Perez after Champions League win

Madrid, May 30 / BNA / Real Madrid president Florentino Perez confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe was not on the team’s mind, as the team celebrated its 14th European Cup title after beating Liverpool in Paris on Saturday.

Mbappe received widespread signals to move to the Spanish capital, but he signed a contract extension until 2025 with Paris Saint-Germain last week in a dramatic turnaround, a decision that angered many Real Madrid players and fans.

“Real Madrid will always continue to work on having the best players, but today Mbappe is already forgotten,” Perez told reporters after Vinicius Junior’s 1-0 win.

“Nothing happened, Real Madrid had a great season and this is a forgotten affair, there is only a Real Madrid party.”

Mbappe’s choice to stay in the French champions sparked a war of words between the parties involved after La Liga president Javier Tebas said they would file a complaint against Paris Saint-Germain with UEFA because the deal “attacks the economic stability” of the European game.

Ligue 1 president Vincent Labron responded to Tebas on Thursday, saying his distortion of the Ligue 1 and its players was “unacceptable”.
