Martínez nets 3 as Inter beats Salernitana to end drought

Milan, March 6 (BUS): Lautaro Martinez scored a hat-trick in Inter Milan’s victory in a stunning style, beating Salernitana 5-0 to move to the top of the Italian League.

Edin Deco also scored two goals and Inter will remain at the top of the Italian League for at least 48 hours. The defending champions surpassed one point over Napoli and Milan, who meet on Sunday night, according to the Associated Press.

Inter had won only one of their past seven matches in all competitions since the start of February. That round witnessed the fall of the Italian Serie A champions from the top of the league and lost at home to Liverpool 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League match.

He also failed to score in four consecutive matches and for more than 400 minutes.

Martinez hasn’t scored since December 12 and the Italian Super Cup win over Juventus, but he broke a duck in the 22nd minute when he ran past Nicolo Parilla Peña and hit the bottom left corner.

Martinez, who hit the crossbar earlier, doubled his tally with a very similar goal after another pass from Parilla shortly before the end of the first half.

The Argentina striker completed a hat-trick in the 56th minute with a shot into the roof of the net after a pass from Džeko.

Ruben Goossens came off the bench in his second Inter appearance since joining from Atalanta and within two minutes put Inter fourth for Džeko, who doubled his tally five minutes later.
