Lukaku goal puts Chelsea through to Club World Cup final

Abu Dhabi, February 9 (BNA): Chelsea will get another chance to win the Club World Cup for the first time after beating Al Hilal 1-0 on Wednesday to prepare for a meeting with Palmeiras in the final.

Romelu Lukaku’s goal from close range in the 32nd minute decided the match between the European and Asian champions, according to the Associated Press.

A European team has won 13 of the last 14 finals of the intercontinental competition. The last to lose was Chelsea, who were defeated by Corinthians in 2012.

Another Brazilian side at Palmeiras, the South American champions, is waiting on Saturday, and Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel is supposed to be in Abu Dhabi for that.

Tuchel missed the match against Al Hilal because he is in isolation after contracting the Corona virus, and he hopes to be able to get out to the final.

Lukaku’s goal was his first in six matches and came after Al Hilal defender Yasser Al Shahrani failed to clear a cross from Kai Havertz. The Belgian striker hit the house from the edge of the six-yard area.
